Katakwi-As thousands of Iteso from different parts of Uganda and beyond on Monday thronged the village of Amukurat , Okokoma Parish, Akoboi Sub county in Katakwi district to pay tribute to the departed Rtd Police officer AIP Francis Michael Opolot who joined Police because talent .
Opolot who only attained his senior two level of education was absorbed or called by Uganda Police Forces around 1984 because of his sporting talent when he was footballer of North Teso district in 1960’s.
Following the life journey of Opolot who became a big officer at Police, youth in Teso and Uganda at large have been encouraged to use sporting as one way of employment.
Anthony James Ibwalingat Okwi, the Bursary Assembly High school in Bundibunjo a brother to late narrated how talented his brother made him encourage youth to promote sporting activities as another way of employment to earn a living.
Richard Ocom , mayor of Kumi municipality, also executive member of FUFA chairing committee of innovation and membership at Federation represented the FUFA president Eng. Magogo officiated at the function as chief mourner together with Uganda cranes team paid tribute to Okwi’s father late AIP Opolot, a man that mourners described as an advocate of football as exhibited in his DNA that transferred to his family especially children.
He emphasized youth to use their talents as one way of earning a living.”not only officer work pays but use talents as another way of earning living” Ocom said.

Geoffrey Omolo the LCV Katakwi said the football talent has made Katakwi district pride because on their own is playing the country team of Uganda cranes. He appealed to youth to make best use of their gifts.
Hundreds of people lined up along the road to have a glance to AIP Opolot, a father to Emmanuel Okwi, a team captain for Uganda cranes described late as a passionate and humble man who is approachable.
According to a medical report read by his Patrick Okwi, a brother to late reflect that a continuous vomiting stomach pain stomach, a condition of hepatitis and kidney, liver problem including intestines problem following an operation following Endoscopy examination reflected that blockage of intestines caused the death.
He was admitted to several hospitals including Kenya government hospital, Mulago among other private facilities.
AIP Opolot is born of 23rd .09 .1960, died on Wednesday July 19, 2023 at age of 63 , he studied in Akoboi primary school from primary one to Primary seven and joined Soroti Secondary school from S1 to S2 before he joined to Uganda Police Forces because of his passionate sporting talent as footballer of Northern Teso district.
He worked as a police officer at the rank of Assistant Inspector of Police until October 2020 when he retired.
He was on Monday laid to rest at their home in Amukurat village, Okokoma Parish, Akoboi sub county Katakwi district.
