Ignorance of law flues land dispute in Katakwi

Katakwi-The looming land disputes in Katakwi district have been attributed being fueled by ignorance of lawful.

According to leaders many people have taken law into their hands as the way of settling land matter. The LC3 Getom notes that as the locals lack civic education on law many fights in community are noticed being used to settle land wrangles other than court.

The Local Council three Getom sub county in Katakwi district has implored upon all residents in Getom and entire Teso to accept settling land disputes in courts of law rather than physical fight as means to challenge other parties.

David Eilor challenges stakeholders and religious leaders to work jointly with other stakeholders like the courts in solving land matters and further called upon the community members to embrace seeking land justice in courts and prevent issues of fighting of land disputes in the community which he says is criminal according to the law.

Eilor is concern that over 5 cases of land disputes are reported  in the sub county .

Bosco Ariko, the Acting CDO Getom sub county equally challenges the people of Getom to seek  land board committee guidance at Sub County to help immediate harmoniously land disputes .

Meanwhile the LC5 Katakwi district Geoffrey Omolo encourages the communities in Teso to adopt titling of their land to avoid escalating fights.
