Katakwi LC1 Resigns, Hands Office over Alleged Gun and Poisoning Threats

Katakwi- Ben Kiwanuka Angiro, LC one Kaimoru village, Abela parish, Getom Sub County has resigned from being the LC one chairperson of Kaimoru village. While handing over his official stamp to the Getom sub county authority he alleged that life threatening incidents are majorly causing him to resign office.

Kiwanuka who has served for five years shocked his voters who were still yearning for his service that his life is at risk alleging that he is hunted with a gun and poison because of the LC mantle.

According to him he has survived 3 attempts of both being poisoned and shot with a gun .He noted an incident at Burial of Late Acaet where he survived poison as poisoned food was picked out of his hand. Also attempts to waylay him with a gun have been revealed by several prophecies.

A resignation letter dated 24th July, 2023 seen by our reporter handwritten by LC1 reflects the LC1 boss got a new job outside Katakwi and besides his term of services expired.

Kiwanuka who doubles as chairperson for LC ones for Getom sub county is first LC one to officially reign from duty in Katakwi because of term expiry.

Stella Rose Alungat ,the sub county chief confirmed that her office has received a resignation letter and as law mandates the LC1 has handed over office immediately to Simon Elungat who is General Secretary after the community elected him to care take office.

She however, explained to the caretaker that he only serves as interim LC1 chairperson until the government proposes the election of LC ones after 6 month.

he community of Kaimoru village expressed disappointment to hear that their chairperson is retiring yet he has been diligently serving them without discriminating.

Carol Ojikan , Steven Okure , Julius Yiaro Opio among other residents were unhappy that the village is most likely underdeveloped because of no good administration and performance .

Also some local leaders of the LC1 committee such as Florida Amuron Secretary Education have described the resignation of LC1 as a mess caused by few enemies of progress in the village.

Joseph Obwale the youth chairperson Getom sub county and Felista Amulit the parish councilor for Abela are angry that life threatening may cause many of them to withdraw and resign.

David Eilor Kadogo the LC3 Getom sub county revealed that his office received insecurity threats imposed on the LC1 and promised that his office and district security committee will commence an investigation into the possession of guns as a serious issue in Kaimoru village.

Eilor however, has cautioned the interim chairman to work closely with the community to enable people to get services, he also warned from poor performance.

Simon Etukoit the interim chairman comforted his village members promising to work transparently.

Yesterday the Cabinet has extended elections of LC ones to six month as government prepares
