Katakwi- A parent of Akoboi primary school Akoboi parish Akoboi sub county Katakwi district is in trouble for allegedly vandalizing Ekosan pit latrine structure and stealing its door.
The suspects identified as Robert Oserekede a resident of Apopony, Gogonyo in Pallisa district migrated to Oilotor village Akoboi sub county Katakwi district is accused of vandalizing and stealing a latrines two Doors and useful materials from Akoboi health Center II project.

The LC ones comprising the villages of Omodo, Kaimoru, Akoboi, Ajenebukui and Oilotor who ganged as they steer the security at their respective villages say that they picked up the suspects along Aterai Junction on a tip-off by youth who returned from Disco at Katakwi town council at 8 am today Saturday who suspected to have stolen school and later informed school administration who persuaded him.
Abele Jenere, the head teacher of Akoboi Primary School confirms that besides the rampant stealing of school property, unknown people have stolen teacher’s property.
Abele testifies that immediately she was transferred from Okokorio P/S her 7 chickens were stolen by unknown thieves, she appeals for district and stakeholders intervention to fence the school since teaching staff are scared from delivering service.
Robert Oserekede, the suspect who was caught with the door , acknowledged that he stormed the school stealing at 11 pm, he was charged 2m shillings after he agreed to sell his plot to the school.

Steven Oning, the watch man of the school, a resident of Wera- Abibu , Amuria District employed to guard the school is also accused of collaborating with thieves stealing the school but he denied the accusation saying for the last two month of his employment none of the theft was recorded.
Simon Peter Okello, the LC1 Oilotor Village, Akoboi Parish says his village has recorded rampant cases of thefts citing the recent case where Akoboi Health Center II’ lost two solar batteries worth 1.2 million shillings to unidentified thugs.
Also he noted that the latrine door for the same health center was stolen and has remained un recovered.
Okello added that his LC1 court has recorded petty thefts of poultry where the residents highly suspect Oserekede to be engaged.
Martin Omule a teacher of Akoboi is disgruntled that rampant thefts are worrying .He says teachers don’t conduct lessons properly attention is on the safety of property or assets from thieves.
Ben Okojoi , the School management committee condemns the acts, blaming the neighboring community for allegedly stealing school and teachers property . He highlights that several times the school has been robbed.
Okojoi says in 2019 they recorded the loss of the school bell and in subsequent year’s teachers’ property such as chicken, goats, and mattresses were stolen.
Josephine Akulo the Parish councilor for Akoboi Parish, Akoboi Sub County says theft has become a big threat in the institutions across Akoboi sub county. She said the council is looking forward to an intervention from the district to fence open institutions’ to curve vise.
