Soroti-Raphael Magyezi, the Local Government Minister, has on Friday in his vist to Soroti market made an ordered and the arrest of top Soroti City officials and leadership of Soroti Main Market over market row.

The suspects are; Ocaloit Benjamin, Asekenye Damali, Opiding Joseph, Eriebat John Robert, Ochengel Badru and Tukei George William.

Magyezi made this announcement during a meeting with disgruntled vendors while presenting the findings of an investigative committee report on Friday.

Vendors alleged that municipal authorities, including the leadership mismanaged the allocation of lockups and extorted funds from individuals.

Based on the report, Magyezi acknowledged gross corruption through extortion and bribery during the allocation process.

Vendors also raised concerns about the poor zoning of the market.

Soroti city East RCC Edrine Benesa welcomed the directive, expressing hope that transparency would be upheld this time.
