The residents of Katakwi have been implored to utilize government programs to improve on their well being at household through engaging in business activities.
The Vice President Rtd Maj Jessica Alupo who has been camping at the district told Katakwi residents to embrace the various government programs and projects to improve on their economic status at the family level.
According to Alupo, the government has implemented a number of projects that masses should embrace such as PDM and Emyooga and now the government is extending power to enriched places of rural setting which should be utilised.
While launching various activities such as hand hoe distribution to electorates across the district Alupo tasked residents most especially the rural to act positively utilising the available power for business through venturing in small business of saloon operating, opening grinding machinery and operating refrigerator business among others.
She said the government is committed to fulfilling its obligation of connecting power to all rural areas but locals should make best use of power through opening small ventures that help one to earn at least a saving of 5000 shillings and above daily.
Meanwhile she encourages the public to embark in agriculture and poultry keeping, especially the free range system that every person can afford.
She discouraged the youth from dubious activities like gambling, drinking, drug abuse and desist from theft but earn a living with sweat.
She emphasises residents to educate their children as the only way to save their feature , now days most youth have shun education but its important for you to accept education when chance for studying is available Alupo advised youth.
