Overview

This tutorial demonstrates the process of deleting a Telegram account through the official Telegram authorization portal at my.telegram.org/auth. The presenter walks through entering the associated phone number in international format, receiving the authorization code via Telegram, and signing in to the account dashboard. Once authenticated, the presenter explains the available dashboard options: API development tools, Delete account, and Log out. Viewers are cautioned that clicking the Delete account option will permanently and irreversibly remove their account data.

Accessing the Telegram Authorization Page

To begin deleting a Telegram account, open the official authentication portal at https://my.telegram.org/auth. Enter the phone number tied to the account in international format (e.g., including the country code prefix), then click Next to request a verification code.

  • Visit https://my.telegram.org/auth in a web browser.
  • Input the phone number associated with the Telegram account in international format.
  • Click Next to initiate the login code request.

Retrieving and Submitting the Web Login Code

Check your active Telegram session (such as Telegram Web or mobile app) for a direct message from Telegram containing a web login code. Telegram warns never to share this code, as it can be used to delete your account. Copy the exact confirmation code string, paste it into the Confirmation code field on the authorization portal, and click Sign In.

  • Login codes arrive inside a Telegram chat from the official Telegram service account.
  • The code must not be shared with anyone.
  • Paste the code into the confirmation field and select Sign in.

Understanding Dashboard Options and Deletion Finality

After signing in, the portal displays 'Your Telegram Core' with three options: API development tools, Delete account, and Log out. API development tools allow integration with custom applications. Selecting 'Delete account' permanently deletes your account and is irreversible. If you are only testing the portal, use 'Log out' instead.

  • API development tools are used for connecting applications to Telegram.
  • Clicking Delete account permanently removes the account immediately.
  • Deletion is irreversible; choose Log out if simply testing.
